East Ohio Regional Banquet 3/6/15 |
This year's East Ohio Regional Banquet was hosted by CCA in Hudson Ohio.A few folks had to cancel due to the continued winter blast. But inside you couldn't tell by the warm and friendly discussions from the many different club members that were in attendance.Friday night's activities were kicked off by the CCA hospitality suite in the Clarion Hotel. Thanks to several people from our club, we enjoyed lots of goodies and beverages. Then lots of reminicense of the warm days of 2014 and friendly competition throuout the region. And we even had the opportunity to do some high speed time trials at Lime Rock and Charlotte Motor Speedway with the iRacing simulator. Then it was on to preparing for the main event, the banquet. We gathered up all of the donations and gift baskets and brought them to the banquet room in preparation of the gala event. Our entertainment committee scored big with lots of great prizes, including a beautiful gift basket from our sponsor, Art Mills and Pat OBrien Chevrolet! And thanks to our Sharon Burk and Carl LaFrance, we were able to get an amazing guest speaker, Richard Morrison, CEO of the Molded Fiberglass Companies in Ashtabula Ohio. It's a little known fact that ALL Corvettes, including the current C7, had an important start right here in our neighborhood of Ashtabula Ohio! Back in 1953, Robert S. Morrison, the founder of Molded Fiberglass Companies, (MFC), actually convinced a couple of GM executives to use fiberglass for the body of the Corvette!! At that time it was actually called Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic. Please check out the entire story and video HERE! After a great dinner and an intreguing speach by Richard Morrison, we were on to the awards for 2014.Then we completed the evening with some lively dancing, gatering, and more! (Finally got the fringe on Ulka's dress to spin!) Our sincere thanks to everyone that attended, helped and donated, making this an enjoying and fun filled weekend!
