Several members from our club attended the East Ohio Regional Banquet held at the Wadsworth Roadway Inn and the Galaxy Restaurant.
After the prior night's get together in the Hospitality Room, I was lucky enough to attend my first Governor's meeting on Saturday morning. Never knew what happened behind those closed door meetings but was pleasantly surprised to see that these meetings are similar to our regular monthly meetings with the exception of only recognizing the Governors from each club.
In addition we had two very special guests, Wilmer Cooksey, Jr. and his wife Dr. Liz Cooksey. Wil was the Plant Manager of the Corvette Assembly Operations in Bowling Green from February 1993 to March 2008 when he retired. He was also inducted into the Corvette Hall of Fame in the National Corvette Museum. More information HERE.
It was our pleasure to talk to him and his wife and to obtain an autographed copy of their book, No Time to Cry. A great read and I highly recommend it!
Wil did a great job as the guest speaker, making it real with some interesting stories that made us think and laugh! Our hosts, the attendees, the food and the banquet were all excellent, especially the great awards and the not so great yellow shirt awards! :-(
To cap it off some good news from our Governor Sharon Burk. CCA was approved to host the 2015 E.O.R Banquet right here in Mentor Ohio! Stay tuned....
