Crooked River Show/Rallye/Race 09/29/12 |
Crooked River Corvette Club hosted a two day Wax - Rallye - Race. First the show and rallye on Saturday the 29th at Serpentini Chevrolet in Orville, then the race and show on Sunday the 30th at the Geauga Lake parking lot in Aurora.
This was my first Rallye. WOW!! I still don't remember everything that we did or saw. Thanks to my co-pilot Donna Huddle, I was dragged through 90 minutes of terror, exhilaration, laughter and an amazing blur of words, pictures & puzzles using every gear of my Vette, including reverse! When Donna said, "I didn't get that name on that sign, back up!", I had to because I didn't know any better. This totally confirmed my suspicions on why God made alcohol!
The instructions Tim handed out were clear except a couple questions that he said to remove, like the one about finding a hammock on a front porch! Of course Donna forgot to remove it and I looked at EVERY house for that blessed hammock for the full 90 minutes! Oh well! (Please note the blurred photos taken during the Rallye!!) The good new is that Donna and I came in 7th and the Burks came in 1ST!!!
The next day we all met at Geauga Lake's parking lot for a fairly long 0.7 mile race. It was great for the guys but it rained quite a bit for the women. They all were troopers and finished a little wet but without a scratch! We all dried off and had the show with several other good looking Vettes.
Our sincere thanks to Tim Obert and the Crooked River Club for all of their hard work and two great days of fun with these amazing machines!!
