Our Memorial Weekend Autocross!
This was a stressful but very rewarding weekend for everyone that helped to put it together. We had an average of about 50 drivers each day including several NCCC regional members that came from other states to enjoy our 3-day memorial weekend.
This weekend was a combined effort from CCA, NEOVC, KVCC, and MCCC. All the governors helped to make this a very valuable and fun weekend.
We started each day off by honoring the true meaning of Memorial Day with a salute to the American Flag by Chuck Stephens and a moment of silence for those that gave the ultimate sacrifice so that we can have the freedom to enjoy these events with the US made Corvettes we all love so much.
Then we enjoyed 7 autocross events each day starting off by having some newbies experience the track with assistance by some veteran drivers. The smiles were very evident during and after the runs. Then it was on to the more seasoned drivers.
The courses allowed us to have two runs each, somewhere from 20 to 40 seconds depending on the skill level. A few of us even tried to take a few cones home hidden under the cars! Don't understand how they got there!!!
Even the weather held out and with only a few sprinkles we were able to conclude all 21 events without any major incidents.
We want to send out our most sincere thanks to all veterans that attended, to the drivers, workers, sponsors, and the people of Eastlake City Hall and the Eastlake Police, for keeping us safe and for the other members and what they contributed to our cause to help us all enjoy a fun filled Memorial Weekend!!
Thank you.
